Sustainable Energy Information Partnership (SEIP)
The purpose of the SEIP (a partnership between Bendigo Access Employment and Sustainability Victoria) is to provide the community with information on the sustainable use of energy, water and resources.
There is primarily a focus on individuals, householders and businesses, and we have also developed a number of links with other local organisations (e.g. City of Greater Bendigo's Economic Development Unit, Business and Industry Environmental Network, the waste management groups, Central Victorian Business Network, etc.).
Some of the projects we are currently working on include:
- A website aimed at providing information on making small businesses more energy/water/waste efficient and hence more profitable, including profiling Central Victorian businesses who have already implemented sustainable practices
- Restocking and updating the 15 information outlets we have set up in council offices, libraries, etc. throughout North Central Victoria (static displays containing information, ideas, 'how to's, etc.) as well as installing three more in Ganawarra and Buloke shires
- Continued development of PepperGreen Farm, a community, environmental and heritage park in Bendigo promoting sustainable practices
- Presence at a number of community events promoting sustainability - e.g. Elmore Field Days, RACV Energy BreakThrough, Bendigo Home Show, EcoV
- Developing relationships with local community groups committed to sustainability
- Developing a self funding behavioural change program to assist home owners to reduce their energy/water/waste consumption and save money
